Kitchen Faucets Made Easy

Whether your home built from beach house plans calls for a kitchen faucet with a one hole or three hole install, the selection process can be made easily. There are a few basic steps you can take to make the correct faucet choice.

The first step you need to take is to inspect your mounting options. The faucet you are going to install will need to be compatible with the number of holes, as well as the spacing of the holes, in your existing countertop. Once you know how many holes are available you can go from there in your selection process. If you have one hole, you will need to buy a faucet that has the spout and handle in one mounting plate. If you have three holes but like the look of the faucets that come with one hole, you can use a deckplate to cover up the holes that will go unused. If you don't want to use a deckplate you can use the other two holes for a soap dispenser, sidespray or even an automatic hot water dispenser. Other options come with four holes: one for each handle, one for the spout and one for the water sprayer or a soap dispenser.

Once you decide what type of mount is called for in your home plans and designs you can then figure out the other options you need. You can get a faucet that has a pull out sprayer or a pull down sprayer. The difference between these two is huge. To use a pull out sprayer you will have to remove the entire handle to get the water to move in the direction that you need it to. A pull down sprayer is much more flexible and often only has to be pulled out an inch or two to spray the desired area. There are also different types of spouts. The ideal spout will reach as close to the middle of your sink as possible. One of the most popular types of spouts today are those that have a high arc.

The last item to consider is what type of finish you want for your kitchen built from home design plans. The best way to go is to match this finish to the finish of your sink. If you have a stainless steel sink, you will want to go with a stainless steel or brushed chrome to match. If you have a white sink you can either buy a white spout or you can choose any other metal if you so please. You don't have to limit yourself solely to the sink color to have it look good.
